Brighton Media Centre (BMC) is the umbrella organisation which really has initiated practical support and development for the design/creative industries in Brighton. Since 1992 BMC has facilitated the growth of the local cluster by offering serviced office accommodation, good facilities, networking events, exhibitions, electronic networks, business support and information services aimed specifically at the sector.
The newly formed City of Brighton & Hove is now a UK location of pure excellence for all forms of media practice, and BMC is renowned nationally and now also internationally for its good experience in cluster development and management competence. BMC aims to continue its big expansion in Brighton with further development of the model and promotion of the sector.
BMC successfully achieves £360,000 of Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) funding to move to a new large site at Middle Street with 17 workspaces for New Media companies. £160,000 of this goes to Lighthouse, the digital arts training organisation, for staff and training facilities. The £200,000 helps to fit out public spaces including a cafe, cinema, administration, conference room & gallery.
