Brighton Media Centre (BMC) is the umbrella organisation which really has initiated practical support and development for the design/creative industries in Brighton. Since 1992 BMC has facilitated the growth of the local cluster by offering serviced office accommodation, good facilities, networking events, exhibitions, electronic networks, business support and information services aimed specifically at the sector.
The newly formed City of Brighton & Hove is now a UK location of pure excellence for all forms of media practice, and BMC is renowned nationally and now also internationally for its good experience in cluster development and management competence. BMC aims to continue its big expansion in Brighton with further development of the model and promotion of the sector.
BMC opens the new site at 9-12 Middle Street, housing 30 New Media and Creative companies. Many of these move over from the previous Media Centre site in Jew Street, to take advantage of the upgraded facilities and the continuing benefit of on-site management. There is also Cat 5 cabling and full Broadband data provision, to replace the previous universal dial-up connections, installed as the best technology available at the time.
