Brighton Media Centre (BMC) is the umbrella organisation which really has initiated practical support and development for the design/creative industries in Brighton. Since 1992 BMC has facilitated the growth of the local cluster by offering serviced office accommodation, good facilities, networking events, exhibitions, electronic networks, business support and information services aimed specifically at the sector.
The newly formed City of Brighton & Hove is now a UK location of pure excellence for all forms of media practice, and BMC is renowned nationally and now also internationally for its good experience in cluster development and management competence. BMC aims to continue its big expansion in Brighton with further development of the model and promotion of the sector.
BMC opens the new site at 68 Middle Street, providing workspace for a further 11 companies. This also had the space for facilities such as meeting rooms and the BMC Head Office.
The Gallery at BMC, in partnership with the University of Sussex and the Arts Council, opens the Like Life exhibition exploring artificial life.
The Contact Gallery, a joint venture between BMC and the Contact photographic agency is launched to provide exhibition space for professional artists and illustrators.
Association of Photographers hold their 17th annual show at Contact Gallery.
