Brighton Media Centre (BMC) is the umbrella organisation which really has initiated practical support and development for the design/creative industries in Brighton. Since 1992 BMC has facilitated the growth of the local cluster by offering serviced office accommodation, good facilities, networking events, exhibitions, electronic networks, business support and information services aimed specifically at the sector.
The newly formed City of Brighton & Hove is now a UK location of pure excellence for all forms of media practice, and BMC is renowned nationally and now also internationally for its good experience in cluster development and management competence. BMC aims to continue its big expansion in Brighton with further development of the model and promotion of the sector.
BMC launches two large new sites at 21-22 Old Steyne & at Friese-Greene House in Middle Street. It is seen as a wonderful coincidence that the first Media Centre in Britain is now housed in the building named after Mr. William Friese-Greene, the inventor of Cinematography as we know it, and who lived 3 doors away up the street! The new sites provide space for a further 40 companies.
The Gallery hosts 12 exhibitions through the year, including an exhibition of degree show highlights from the MA Fine Art course at Chelsea College of Art.
BMC set up their own in-house Technical Dept, to ensure continuity in providing high quality Broadband data to all the Suites, along with the need to incorporate developments as they come available.
BMC Christmas event held for all clients and suppliers in the BMC Gallery.
