Brighton Media Centre (BMC) is the umbrella organisation which really has initiated practical support and development for the design/creative industries in Brighton. Since 1992 BMC has facilitated the growth of the local cluster by offering serviced office accommodation, good facilities, networking events, exhibitions, electronic networks, business support and information services aimed specifically at the sector.
The newly formed City of Brighton & Hove is now a UK location of pure excellence for all forms of media practice, and BMC is renowned nationally and now also internationally for its good experience in cluster development and management competence. BMC aims to continue its big expansion in Brighton with further development of the model and promotion of the sector.
2003
BMC confirms its mission to ensure continuing development and support for clients in the Creative Industries, which sector now provides around 30% of all employment in Brighton & Hove, up from only 1% in 1992.
Incubation unit set up at BMC by Bizvizion to cater for new entrepreneurs to get started in the Creative Industries, with facilities and business advice all provided for a monthly fee.
New website launched.
A purpose-built Sound Studio is created in the basement of Friese-Greene House.
BMC Xmas party hosted at Sumo bar, next door to our Middle Street sites.
