Brighton Media Centre (BMC) is the umbrella organisation which really has initiated practical support and development for the design/creative industries in Brighton. Since 1992 BMC has facilitated the growth of the local cluster by offering serviced office accommodation, good facilities, networking events, exhibitions, electronic networks, business support and information services aimed specifically at the sector.
The newly formed City of Brighton & Hove is now a UK location of pure excellence for all forms of media practice, and BMC is renowned nationally and now also internationally for its good experience in cluster development and management competence. BMC aims to continue its big expansion in Brighton with further development of the model and promotion of the sector.
The refurbished Reception Area and Front Entrance to Friese-Greene House is completed, providing a welcoming front-of-house for the 2 Middle Street sites and a pleasant waiting and informal meeting area, along with DDA w.c. and entrance facilities.
The rear garden at Friese-Greene House is completely overhauled, and makes a superb green space, secluded and ideal fro BMC clients to rest in, smoke, have lunch, meet and talk, all outdoors in peace amongst the flowers, shrubs and butterflies – a very unusual private facility for the heart of Brighton.
Several BMC clients outgrow their space and upgrade to larger suites within the Centre, enabling new smaller companies to move in.
A Summer Barbecue was held for BMC clients and staff on a summer evening in early August in the Friese-Greene Garden, and was a very pleasant and well-received event.
