Brighton Media Centre (BMC) is the umbrella organisation which really has initiated practical support and development for the design/creative industries in Brighton. Since 1992 BMC has facilitated the growth of the local cluster by offering serviced office accommodation, good facilities, networking events, exhibitions, electronic networks, business support and information services aimed specifically at the sector.
The newly formed City of Brighton & Hove is now a UK location of pure excellence for all forms of media practice, and BMC is renowned nationally and now also internationally for its good experience in cluster development and management competence. BMC aims to continue its big expansion in Brighton with further development of the model and promotion of the sector.
With the increasing development of the Creative Industries as the sector providing 30% of employment in Brighton, the work spaces at BMC are full, and we look to additional ways of serving this community.
The Friese-Greene Gallery and Studio entrance and display area is upgraded, with spotlighting, a considerably more open and welcoming entrance, and a policy of providing a space that is attractive , modern and flexible, for all kinds of events from Exhibitions and Performances ranging through to Training Space and small Conferences.
A full Performance and Alcohol Licence is granted, and BMC hosts a fantastic programme of Art Exhibitions including prize-winning works from Graham – and Lisa – in their “Show Below”, performances of Dance and Drama, and outdoor Installation Space for the Brighton Festival Fringe.
There are several Social Events for our Clients, including a Summer Barbecue and a Christmas Party.
There are satellite buildings being organised by one of the Directors to cater for further elements of the Creative Industries, beginning with “The Werks” in Hove, specialising in Incubation and support for these new small and micro businesses.
