DIVERSITY MEANS BUSINESS ROADSHOW ON 20TH APRIL FREE advice on diversity issues for BMC Clients and other businesses.
The day will begin at 10am with a free breakfast provided by the Diversity Means Business team in the Friese Greene Gallery, 15-17 Middle Street. Registration staff will be on hand in the Gallery from 10am until 12noon accepting bookings to the free of charge sessions, although places can also be reserved in advance by contacting Karen Barber, Project Co-ordinator Tel: 023 9284 1610 karen.barber@portsmouthcc.gov.uk. Whilst the sessions are all based at Brighton Media Centre, the invitation to attend is extended to external businesses too. A Diversity Advisor will be on site, providing 30 minute advice sessions on a one to one basis and businesses can raise any issues, thoughts or concerns in a confidential environment. The Advisor will be happy to review company policies, discuss ideas for increasing diversity in both the workforce and customer base and can also advise on recruitment and retention issues. Running along side this, a Diversity Trainer will be hosting hour-long taster workshops.'What is Diversity' introduces the concept of diversity and covers the different types of diversity and ways in which company policies can be adapted to encourage a diverse workforce. 'Reasonable Adjustments' outlines the Disability Discrimination Act and introduces what adjustments employers can make to be inclusive. 'Introduction to Races and Faiths' gives an overview of some of the different races and faiths found in the UK and 'Diversity Action Planning' enables a small group to work on ways to take their business forward by defining actions relevant to their business, with the support and assistance of the Diversity Trainer. Please see the leaflets left in your pigeon holes. The Diversity Means Business project is financed by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and the European Social Fund (ESF) with support from Portsmouth City Council. To find out more about the project, or to sign up to attend the Diversity Day at Brighton Media Centre, please contact Karen Barber, Project Co-ordinator of Diversity Means Business on 023 9284 1610, or email karen.barber@portsmouthcc.gov.uk DOUGHNUT DONE Thank you to those clients who came along to our first Doughnut Day on 17th March.
