GOODBYE ALI AND CAROLINE
Two longstanding members of staff are leaving this month.
|
Alastair Dodd, one half of our Technical Team, is leaving after 11 years of working with BMC. He began as a
freelance technical advisor for BMC and later worked as an HTML and PC trainer. More recently, through his full time role
in Technical Support, he has been helping the Centre's clients with their IT and maintaining our telephone and data systems.
Ali is going on to work with his main interest - online computer games - for the European office of a major
international online games company.
|
|
Caroline Hancock started at BMC's gallery, organising art exhibitions, and has filled various roles since,
from reception to sales and marketing. She has also co-written
Shooting People's
book "Get Your Film Funded 2004", researched the follow-up, "How to Fund Your Film"
from Netribution (on sale now!) and
has co-produced "Darkhunters", and 2nd Unit directed on "The Forest of the Damned"
from Gatlin Pictures.
Recently Caroline has begun making short films and will be spending the summer in Ireland writing a screenplay for
her MA Course in Dramatic Writing.
|
|
Also sadly leaving, is Hanna Sahloul who has provided BMC with admin support over the last year. Hanna, who worked in both
sites since last summer has recently graduated receiving a "first" in her English degree. She has decided to take some
time out over the summer where she will be jetting off to sunnier climates such as Mexico and the South of France.
|
BMC wishes all of you the best of luck!

UPSTREAM CONNECTIONS
Upstream - 1 year on at BMC & Brighton Hero
|
Upstream Connections (search engine optimisation), based in Room G01 at our Old Steyne site, are celebrating their first
anniversary at BMC at the start of July.
|
A brand new company, directors Jose and Alexis are
delighted that Upstream has grown, with one of their websites winning the Brighton&Hove
Searchability Award last November,
and recently moving into a comfortable size office after living two flights up on the second
floor for the first 9 months. In the past few months, client numbers have tripled, they have
taken on a full-time salesperson and an office manager. They are also running a new translation
business and foreign language training business
from the same office, all with great success, and are currently in
the process of partnering with other BMC tenants to help them provide SEO as part of their
range of services, but with Upstream doing all the difficult stuff.

BMC Exhibitions @ Friese Greene Gallery
|
|
|
"Survivors" Photographic Exhibition by Nick Rain showing at The Friese Greene Gallery
|
Nick Rains imagery compels the viewer to stop and look into the eyes
of his subjects, engaged by the intimate moment the light was snapped
to catch the photograph. This creates something more permanent, universal, confrontational because we are given a glimpse into the gates of the soul,
not only theirs but ours as well. We are drawn into the predicaments of others,
connecting with the subjects eyes; then these very eyes begin to question us.
SURVIORS is a collection of photographs taken over a period of fifteen years.
We journey through the lives of others - on the genocide trail of Rwandan
refugee's; we witness the war in Sudan; the Taleban in Afghanistan;
street children in Mexico, India and child prostitutes in Cambodia; the struggle to preserve a way of life threatened by de-forestation in Borneo; and the religious
war of attrition in Northern Ireland.
|
21st July - 4th August, exhibition launch, Friday the 22nd of July 7pm.
Monday to Friday - 9.30am to 5pm
Saturday - 2pm to 4pm
