BMC SUPPORTS CHILD SAFETY

BMC has been donating to a charity called the "Children's Safety Education Foundation" for some years. It is a relatively modest amount, but is used locally, in Middle Street Primary School just up the road. The charity use our contribution to pay for educational safety programmes that enable a class of about 30 children to be given sessions on these topics:

Bullying - First Aid - Road Safety - Drug, Alcohol and Solvent Mis-use -Vandalism - Fire Safety - Car Crime - Anti-Social Behaviour. The intention is to make the children more aware of the dangers, and to help them feel safe, involved, and re-assured.

We are glad that we can make a difference, however small, to the quality of life in our local community in this way. There is a growing awareness that businesses and commerce are a very real and important part of their local community, and recognising this is all part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.

BMC hope that you approve of our involvement in this project. If any other companies here would also like to assist, please go to:

THE MIRACLE OF LIFE BEFORE BIRTH ON DVD FOR THE FIRST TIME!

Based at the Old Steine, BMC Client Rocket Rights release, 'In the womb'

On DVD for the very first time, this beautifully-filmed chronicle allows expectant mothers to follow each stage of their pregnancy in astonishing detail.
Both informative and moving, In the Womb provides a unique insight into the wonders of what happens before birth. Using cutting-edge technology, state-of-the-art models and revolutionary ultra-sound imagery, we watch how the foetus develops from the unification of sperm and egg right through to the actual birth.

It goes without saying that I wish I had this DVD through my own pregnancy and I am delighted to be offering this visual guide to mums and mums-to-be for the very first time."

Manta Identifies Shift In SME Sector Spending From Ownership To Leasing Model

Asset Finance Now Second Only To Cash For Business Finance

[Press Release]

Corporate finance and leasing specialist Manta Finance has identified that SME owner managers in the South East are rejecting the concept of ownership, preferring instead to acquire assets via leasing in order to finance their business' future growth.

Manta Finance has identified this major shift in mindset through working closely with many clients in the region over the last two years and the trend has also been confirmed by independent national research (*), stating that the majority of small to medium sized business owners across the UK are now choosing asset finance ahead of loans in order to acquire the assets their organisations' need.

The primary benefit of the leasing model is that it allows the owner manager to re-deploy cash from within the company into other business development opportunities as opposed to being tied into costly and depreciating assets. Moreover, in many cases, a leasing and finance deal is cheaper than drawing from cash flow as any acquisition via leasing is accounted for as an operating expense, thereby incurring less tax than if it were acquired by either loan or direct purchase and would therefore be identified as a depreciating asset.

Companies across the South East of England in particular have identified leasing as a desirable financial model for their business as it enables them to acquire the appropriate and necessary items to develop their business extremely cost-effectively - paying for the products whilst they are receiving the benefit of income to enjoy them, rather than payment in advance.

The simplicity of the solution is a further selling point as Manta organises the appropriate paper work and arranges payout within a few days from the contract being signed. With a focus on accessibility, simplicity and client satisfaction, Manta's team of commercially competent managers has delivered a track record of 100% client retention to date.

Stephen Haskew, Managing Director at Manta Finance, commented: "There is little doubt that asset finance has become far more attractive, particularly to small to medium enterprises in recent years. Not only does it make extremely sound financial sense when compared to a loan but it also allows the business owner to retain their precious capital resources, thereby retaining their flexibility and agility as an organisation, one of the most valuable tools in the SME armoury."

(*) Nearly 800 small to medium sized companies, SMEs, responded to the survey conducted by trade body the Finance and Leasing Association and the Forum of Private Business. As Reported in NCF Business Finance Magazine.

BMC Exhibitions

MODERN NATURE featuring Justin Weeks, Paris Stone, Did Bowen & Nick Moran

at Friese Greene Gallery from March 27th to April 3rd 2006

exhibition Justin Week's paintings evoke the spirit of Turner and Pollack in their beautiful and violent interpretation of the natural world. Did Bowen's sculptures are an organic, mechanical and industrial hybrid that, although playful, confront our naive expectations of technology. Paris Stone's low-level landscape photography confuses our senses and subverts our normal viewpoint whilst Nick Moran's paintings and photographs resonate with the language of film, glossy magazines, fairy tales and religious iconography

Although their individual work is unrelated in terms of medium and subject matter there is, throughout, a definite thematic correlation, i.e, what is it to be human as both voyeurs of and participants in a complex, bizarre and ever changing landscape?

The word, "nature"refers to anything that is not 'man-made' but in approaching this subject through art which, by its very nature, is artificial, these artists have created a fascinating and challenging show that will leave you with just as many questions as it will answers.

If you would like to find out more about exhibiting in our Gallery, please contact Helene Taylor on 01273 201371, or gallery@mediacentre.org.

FANCY A FREE EXTRA PAIR OF HANDS?

Tom Clark is the Work Experience Manager for Regent Language Training. They have a school in Brighton that teaches English to international students.
Increasingly, they are being asked to help certain students find unpaid work experience in many industries: Most students are quite flexible, and happy to take on a junior office role, the most popular areas last year were:

. Advertising
· Business Administration
· Marketing
· Reception
· Research
· Event Management

Because of this, they are currently looking for partners that may be in a position to accommodate students on short term work experience during Spring/Summer 2006. Most students request 4, 6 or 8 weeks unpaid experience. The students have intermediate or upper intermediate English level, and are usually studying or working in a field related to the type of industry they wish to be placed.
They ask for no fee from any company where a student may be placed. Students understand that they will not be paid, and many are simply looking for an opportunity to practice their English in the work place.
If you feel your company may be in a position to accommodate a student at some point in the future, or would like to discuss this opportunity further, please contact Tom Clark on 01273 718603 or email tom.clark@regent.org.uk
