'directline holidays trials innovative flight search'

BMC Client Directline Holidays who are based at Friese Greene House on Middle Street is breaking ground in the online travel industry with a new flight search tool. The tool follows in the footsteps of the highly regarded skyscanner.net but provides users with three major advantages.

1. Fresh search results (not cached over a number of days gives more accurate pricing)

2. All flights bookable via a one page standard booking form (no need to click through to the airlines website and repeat your search details)

3. Concurrent searches of charter, scheduled and no frills airlines (including Easyjet, Ryanair, Flybe, Excel, Monarch, Thomson, Aerlingus, British Airways, bmi baby).

In their trial, directline holidays are carefully monitoring user behaviour on the site and are requesting constructive feedback/thoughts/comments before funding a large marketing push.

Feedback can be emailed to matt.adams@directline-holidays.co.uk

PROTECTING YOUR CREDIT RATING

Article Courtesy of 'Business Heads'

Increasingly in the UK we are turning to the Internet when considering mortgages, loans, credit cards, etc. In such a crowded and often confusing marketplace the plethora of product comparison websites means that, on the face of it, we have an array of excellent research tools available to us at the click of a mouse.

However, we need to be careful about how we use them. Research is fine, but don't be tempted to make speculative applications online. Whenever we fill in and submit an application to one of these sites we are initiating a credit checking process; whether or not the rating is approved and whether or not we decide to buy the product in the end.

The more online applications we make, the more credit checks are initiated, each one of which leaves an electronic 'footprint' on the file maintained by the credit scoring company. Too many of these footprints over a relatively short period and potential lenders are likely to downgrade the credit rating.

The message is, use comparison sites with discretion and only apply for facilities you think you will get and that you really intend to buy. Keep in mind that whenever you make an online product application you are also leaving a trace on your credit record.Beyond the other obvious causes of a poor credit rating - mortgage or loan default, missed credit card payments or county court judgments - even those with healthy personal finances can suffer from a poor credit score. Typical reasons for this include no telephone landline, in a job for only a short period, not appearing on the electoral roll, or simply never having borrowed money before.

Should you wish to check your credit report, one of the major providers, Experian, offer a free 30-day trial of their CreditExpert service which includes the facility to access your own report go to www.experian.co.uk
