BMC SUMMER BBQ
...........................................................................................
The BMC summer BBQ held last week proved to be a very enjoyable evening.

Mmmm, sausages! There was a fantastic turn out for our Summer BBQ - and the weather just about held for us!
The evening was a great success in bringing us all together socially and we hope to organise more events like this in the future.

Any ideas or suggestions of any events that you would like to happen, please let us know and we will see what we can do.

Still in the pipeline is a First Aid training day. We need enough people to express an interest before we can book the day, so if you are interested please send an email to Emily

Enjoy the pics!

BY DESIGNERS FOR DESIGNERS
...........................................................................................
Wired Sussex are hosting Brighton's first "By Designers for Designers" event on 12th September. The event will take place at Fabrica and Andy Mac from Skint Records will be on hand to provide the music. It should be a great social evening as well as a real opportunity to find out what is happening creatively in Brighton.

As part of the evenings 3 Minute Madness section, Wired Sussex are encouraging people to nominate raw and original new media talent to show and talk about their work.

They are looking for designers who are doing interesting work, not polished or even commercial, it is the innovative and exciting that they are after.

If you know a design genius, or would like more information, please contact tara@wiredsussex.com

NEW EXHIBITION AT BRIGHTON MEDIA CENTRE GALLERY
...........................................................................................
This month our exhibition at Brighton Media Centre is a collection of drawings by Olly Hydes.

Oliver Hydes is a Brighton based illustrator and this is his first exhibition since graduating from Brighton University this year.

Hydes' work is predominantly concerned with scale and the relationship between imagination and reality.

His most recent work consists of five pieces; all produced on large sheets of paper that hang directly from the wall.

Included in this series of work is a large pixilated portrait, completed in felt tip pen, of the famous basketball player, 'Pistol Pete Maravich'.
The striking and psychedelic style of this piece communicates the psychological state of the subject, involving the veiwer on a deeper level than perhaps expected.

This current exhibition will be on display throughout the month of August.

PIER TO PIER INTERNET ACCESS
.............................................................................................
A new service using wireless technology is being set up on Brighton beach to enable people to get online at broadband speed without the need to plug in any cables.

Uniquely, this new service in Brighton is to be provided entirely for free, due to sponsorship from local companies Moving Edge, Dataline Software, Riptide Fitness Centre and Microexpert.
The sponsors have provided the hardware and the bandwidth and the necessary support will be provided by volunteers.
The first phase of the project provides wi-fi coverage between Gemini's bar and cafe and The Beach nightclub. More nodes are also planned for the future to extend the coverage further.

Full coverage is expected to happen within a couple of weeks so take advantage of the last of the sunshine and access the web while soaking up the rays on Brighton seafront!
