COMMON PURPOSE 'NAVIGATOR' PROGRAMME
Navigator is a unique leadership programme for young high-flyers who have real potential to lead their organisations in the next decade. Over an intensive five-day residential, Navigator takes a diverse group of participants from the business, public and voluntary sectors outside their typical four walls, giving them a behind-the-scenes view of how organisations, the region and society work. Specific benefits of the Navigator experience include: - Increased motivation, self-confidence and leadership qualities. - Tapping into a valuable and effective network of peers across the region. - Developing skills and expertise in team working, problem solving, negotiating, influencing and managing change. - Spotting new business opportunities. - Communicating better with customers, stakeholders and decision-makers. GUYS ON FILM: DURAN DURAN UNSEEN A photography exhibition by Paul Edmond, at BMC Gallery, 9-12 Middle St, Mon-Fri 10am-5.30pm
'Guys on Film: Duran Duran Unseen' is an exhibition of Paul's photographs of the band during their very early years, offering a unique glimpse of a band on the cusp of global success. Having scraped the mould off the negatives, and dusted down the contact sheets, nearly all of these are photographs on show for the very first time. In the late 70s and early 80s Paul was operating from his studios in Birmingham and hanging out at the City's infamous Rum Runner Club. It was here that he got wind of an up and coming local band going by the name of Duran Duran. Paul got to know the band as they began to formulate their plans for world domination. Guys on Film includes pictures of the beautiful boys getting elegantly wasted at The Rum Runner and at their early gigs and rehearsals. Soon the band was snapped up by EMI and headed to London to rehearse recording for their first single, "Planet Earth". Where John Taylor, the band's bass player recalls 'staying in a horrible hotel in Fulham where I got very sick.' Paul visited the band at this 'horrible hotel', where he photographed them for their first professional photo session, commissioned for the front cover of the now defunct Sounds music paper. In the end the paper ran with another story, and these pictures have never seen the light of day…until now! The exhibition also includes many images of the band while recording "Planet Earth" at Chipping Norton Studios. These pictures were commissioned exclusively for The Face. Paul Edmond is a Brighton - based freelance photographer with a passion for fashion and music who has worked with the likes of The Clash, UB40, Annie Lennox and Bryan Ferry, as well as Duran Duran. He can be contacted on 07812 348688 or email pauledmond@btconnect.com. The show runs from 7th - 27th August 2004. PRIVATE VIEW BMC clients would be very welcome to come to the Private View on Saturday, August 7th from 6-10pm. There will be drinks, some live music and lots of interesting people, as well as some great nostalgic pictures of the band! Back to Top
