Colour of Brazil in Brighton this Fringe

Fine artist Jane Butler Biggs exhibits at Brighton Media Centre, 2-8 May

A sense of the colour and vibrancy of Brazil comes to the Brighton Festival Fringe this May with the inaugural exhibiting of fine artist Jane Butler-Biggs ‘Casa at Abadiania’, a six-canvas painting inspired by the country.

The work, along with other pieces from Jane’s latest collection, will be exhibited at the Brighton Media Centre, from Friday 2 to Thursday 8 May.

The inspiration for ‘Casa…’ came from a working relationship with a community in Brazil and the communication between Jane and a colleague there. Jane comments: ‘The wonderful and the fascinating were daily events and I knew at once that I was going to paint something from Brazil. I ended up with six canvases and more layers of paint.’

She continues: ‘The ‘Casa…’ paintings have had huge impact to date and I am unsurprised to find them first being shown at Brighton Media Centre, I will most interested to see them hanging in the fabulous space that is being prepared for them and look forward to meeting the person who will offer guardianship to them next in this amazing journey.’
