July

It's July already and I'm sure most of us are beginning to wonder if we are going to be gifted with decent summer warmth this year.

Brace yourselves! Weatheronline suggest the weather pattern looks rather... unsettled! The BMC suggests you find your British spirit, pack a brolly, get your BBQ's out and relax in the glorious British 'summer' weather and enjoy the great outdoors, come sun or rain!

We would like to share the opposite video with you, by Eladbari, which possibly expresses how the majority of England presently feels.

Learn2wheelie - A new and exciting Wheelie School set up by Nick Straughan.

Learn2wheelie with some of the UK’s best freestyle stunt riders at the home of the Top Gear test track!

Learning to wheelie gives an exciting understanding of power, balance and control.  It’s been a race winners celebration and a benchmark of rider skill for decades.

Learn2wheelie starts you off on a modified quad bike where you learn exactly how to clutch a wheelie up in a safe and realistic environment. The stability of the quad helps to remove the ’fear factor’ of crashing, so you can concentrate on practising the correct wheelie technique in an exciting and safe way.

Expert guidance will build you a solid foundation of wheelie experience on a 400cc quad, then you’ll quickly progress to specially modified Yamaha FZS 600 Fazers, making you feel more confident up on one wheel before you’ve even started.

Learn2wheelie are proud to have 3 of the UK’s best streetbike freestyle stunt riders as instructors: Lee Bowers, Nick Storm and Tim Evans.

SURFACE

Brighton Media Centre Gallery, 15 - 17 Middle Street
26th-31st July

Open to public Monday - Friday: 9.30-5.30
Saturday - Sunday: 10.00am - 5pm

A group of young Brighton painters have come together for the first time to BREAK THE SURFACE and showcase their talent in this exhibition.

The group, who formed earlier in the year after meeting at university, felt compelled to put on a show, seeing that there were few platforms to exhibit their work outside of a degree context. This exhibition is the first of what the group hopes will be many more in the future, and looks at the nature of the painted surface through 21 different artist’s perspectives.

Drug death 'capital' Brighton to put treatment ahead of punishment

Green MP says the coalition's 'localism' policy enables seaside town to follow Portugal's decriminalisation strategy.

Over the past 20 years or so, Brighton has gained an enviable reputation for being cool. Its thriving centre plays host to a young population and the town is one of the most gay-friendly in Europe.

But Brighton also has a drugs problem: there was an average of almost one drug-related death every week – 50 in total – in 2009, and last year around 35 deaths were attributed to drugs. Brighton is the drug death capital of the UK, with the highest mortality rate from drugs per capita.
