While sheperds watch their flock by night

Rabbits run amok at this time of year, turn into chocolate and are eaten by children. Chickens lay eggs heavy in cocoa content and lambs frolick around in the sun until Sunday when they can be served up with mint sauce. AFRICAN RHYTHMS MASSAGE, DRUMMING AND DANCE WORKSHOP

Saturday 17th April

Magnus the Masseur in collaboration with Esther Austin will be running this dynamic workshop.

Life should be lived in a kaleidoscope of energy and fun. Too often we attend events which talk at you and talk to you and there is not enough interaction, nor movement, nor energy.

Magnus will be teaching his African Rhythm Massage in the form of a dance workshop, as movement, music and connecting with your spirit are what makes this massage so special.
Esther Austin will empower and inspire you with a creative session of the power of intention through creative writing, dance and drumming.

We want you to bring along an intention you have for your life.  Something you want to focus on.
Something you want to change.
Then through the power of expression we will empower you to focus on this intention to materialize this into manifestation.

You will walk away energized experiencing a deeper link to your soul and your purpose, a revised energy for life as you connect more with the playfulness of your inner child.

Peter Luty is a painter and printmaker who began his professional career as an architect. He qualified in 1974 and for many years ran his own architectural practice in south east  London. He concentrates now on the representation and interpretation of buildings, old and new. He is interested in spaces, shapes, forms, textures, light and colour and  how buildings change over their lifetime, how they relate to their surroundings and how they relate to each other.

paintings by PAULA MACARTHUR

The vivid paintings of Paula MacArthur are now on display at our Friese-Greene building at 15 - 17 Middle Street.

Inspired by the sights of the coast, her brash canvasses depict the cheap thrills of the seaside in technicolor overload. The controlled dripping and merging of viscous paint with translucent glazes combine to create images which are an exuberant celebration of british holiday culture.

MacArthur has won the prestigious John Player Portrait Award at The National Portait Gallery and the John Moores Biennial at
The Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.

She now enjoys living the rural life in West Kent.

Brighton Photo Hunt 2010

Saturday 17th April

Want to meet other photographers on a free, fun packed afternoon of photography in Brighton?

The Brighton Photo Hunt takes place on Saturday 17th April. Open to anyone with an interest in photography and a digital camera, the event is a cross between a photo walk and a treasure hunt. In teams of 3 or 4 you’ll be given a fun photo challenge to complete around the streets of sunny Brighton. The aim is for each team to capture all the shots in the challenge (you’ll be given instructions and a map), and points will be awarded for each photo your team successfully finds. The winning team wins a small but enjoyable prize!

You don’t need a team beforehand, as we’ll arrange people into teams on the day.

What you need to bring?

Yourself and any digital camera.

Where:

We’ll be meeting at Grand Central pub, 29/30 Surrey Street, Brighton, BN1 3PA, from 11.30am, opposite Brighton train station, where people can have a coffee, drink or snack and get to meet the other budding photographers. 12.30 head off in teams to shoot the photo hunt challenge.
3pm meet up with the other teams at a second pub (venue to be confirmed), for scoring and judging. Lunch and drinks optional.

RUN YOU FOOL!

Get up out of your chair, switch on your out of office reply, slip on your virgin white trainers and leave nothing but dust behind as you re-enact the legend of Pheidippes (without dying) and join the masses in the Brighton Marathon.

South East Employers – PAYE attention to spring changes

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has issued an urgent alert to employers in the South East – important PAYE changes are coming this spring, so make sure you’re prepared for them.

HMRC is writing to all employers in the region this month to remind then that, from this year, they must file their Employer Annual Returns online by the 19 May deadline – there is no longer a paper filing option for small employers with fewer than 50 staff. So, if you file your return on paper, even if it’s before 19 May, you could receive a penalty.
