BMC Exhibitions

Doing the Green Thing

Hester Berry's paintings draw attention to local and global environmental issues. They will be on display in our Old Steyne Building for six weeks.
www.hesterberry.co.uk

Hester Berry is a young Devon artist, specialising in landscape and figure paintings, in any media type.

Hester is inspired by the beauty and power of the natural landscape. She says ‘My painting is therefore an attempt to connect the visual and culturally familiar experience of the landscape with its visceral, reflexive equivalent, so that the viewer can identify with the pleasures of the existing but endangered 'great outdoors', and also become more aware of issues which imperil our fragile and beautiful planet.’

She has had solo exhibitions in Devon and in London and has contributed to group exhibitions throughout England and Wales and internationally.

She is now living in Brighton, Sussex but maintains regular links with family and friends in North Devon.

Shakeel Ansari Photography

'I love to show peoples' essence and their light.
Performers, children, dancers, healers, singers.
I'm passionate about showing that part of people who are letting go of their defences and barriers, and allowing themselves to feel what they're doing just at that moment.'

'For me, this passion is about tuning in to where I am, and who's there. My skill as a photographer is in allowing people to continue being who and how they are, without me affecting or interupting their energy. Without the observer affecting the event. No flash, no studio lights, no dry-ice, no wind machines. Just me, showing up and tuning in.'
