BRIGHTON PHOTO FRINGE Exhibitions

White Night

Saturday October 30th
6pm till midnight

As part of the White Night Festival, the Brighton Media Centre is pleased to be extending its opening hours for the public to come and view two very different exhibitions:

'Contra-invention', by Mocksim and 'Co-rated' by Huw Bartlett:
Photographs.  Investigations.  Unscientific, incomprehensive.  Our most important industry: Parking Fines? Many hate Traffic-Wardens. Mocksim does not.  He despises cars.  Automobiles are proof that what’s best isn’t always a win in the Market Place.  The Internal Combustion Engine even, is inelegant, compared with the beautiful Gas Turbine or bicycle.  Cars barely work.  Traffic-Wardens seem interested in cars. The eyes of the Traffic-Warden may be of value and shake things up.

‘Food Keeps Body & Soul Together’:
Freelance photographer Astrid Schulz is exhibiting a series of colour portraits of people wearing food: ‘Food Keeps Body & Soul Together’. In her pictures the edible item is telling the viewer something about the sitter’s pastime. The resulting images are humorous, bold and distinctive.

Come join us on Saturday October 30th, to mark the winding back of the clocks and to have an opportunity to do something different in the late of the night.

Bar will be open till Midnight.

No need to book tickets. This is a FREE event running from 6.00pm – Midnight.

LAETITIA DE CHAZAL

Afrikaans speaking, south-African born Laetitia De Chazal trained as catwalk and modeling consultant in South Africa prior to moving to the island of Mauritius where she started silk painting in 1987.

Now based in the Uk, Laetitia has learned the ancient art of marbling (which is the floating of colours on carraggeenan moss to produce a single and unique print) and acrylic painting on canvas.
By combining these two techniques, she can produce absolutely unique abstract paintings which are impossible to copy even using the same techniques.

All laetitia's works are originals with no prints or copies made. Each piece is hand signed and marked with blood for a DNA signature against fraud.

Laetitia's work has been exhibited in South Africa and Mauritius, London, Brighton and New York. Paintings can also be viewed and obtained directly from her website: www.laetitia-dechazal.co.uk

GEORGE MUNDELL

George Mundell is a print maker based in Westfield, East Sussex. When printing monoprints, he produces a first copy followed by a second (a ghost print). The first copy is brighter but the ghost more subtle.
