September story...

Earth, Wind & Fire - September from jvdemari on Vimeo.

Running a business is a lot like running a funk band... It requires all individuals to work together as one unit. As Archie Bell put it, sometimes you need to "tighten up". Tightening up on that bass is pretty much the same as "file those invoices or we're not going to get paid". Like running a company, it's a lot of work but as the hardest working person in show business knows, when there's a job to do you have to just 'get on down'!

BRIGHTON MEDIA CENTRE – 18TH BIRTHDAY

Well, we have really enjoyed our August month of celebration! There has been a series of events, for our clients and others, such as the Barbecue, the Local Cheese Tasting, the “Brighton Now” Photo Competition, and the Green Brighton Networking Event – marvellous for us and for those who shared in them with us!

This Celebration was of something that is actually quite astonishing, on reflection. BMC has been around almost as long as the World Wide Web, being probably the world’s first New Media Centre, and has always recognised the need for supportive space for companies in the Creative Sector.

There are many other forms of input for this sector - but having a good value physical location from which to operate, in the right place, with the right kind of Technical infrastructure and back-up, with on-site staff, and with a very straightforward Licence Fee system so budgeting is really easy – that is still unique to BMC!  Providing the essential ingredients for underpinning business success in a flexible way is something we pride ourselves on.

To be able to step into your office and get on with your own business in a cluster where there are many others sharing  a similar creative outlook on making your way in the world – that really counts for something! There are many successful companies who have grown here and moved on to their own premises and we see that as a great success for BMC too. So thank you, our clients and associates, for being here and helping us celebrate!

SHARON SEYMOUR

Contemporary fine artist, Sharon Rosa Seymour, is now exhibiting her paintings in the reception of Friese-Greene House.

Seymour produces art that is a sensual celebration of colour and texture inspired by the natural world. The large scale paintings imbue movement and a feeling of shifting light. Within the seemingly abstract and ambivalent forms it is sometimes possible to see other unexpected and sensual elements.

Sharon Seymour’s work has been exhibited in London, USA, France, India, and across the South of England.  Shortlisted for the John Moore’s and commissioned for the Grand Design new build Health Centre in Kent for large scale paintings.
