Following their hugely successful global tour of Ruislip, the city of Brighton cautiously welcomes sketch-show mavericks No Poofs No Piano to our humble fringe. An hour of rakish tomfoolery awaits.

BRIGHTON. NAKED & VULNERABLE

BRIGHTON. NAKED & VULNERABLE

A bold exhibition of art, film and information to raise HIV awareness in Brighton. Features work by prominent local artists, produced to a common theme - 'The vulnerability of Brighton's naked flesh', containing elements of the naked human form and that of the Royal Pavilion. They symbolise the vulnerability and dangers present within Brighton's sexualised culture.

The exhibition will end in an auction of the artworks, with all proceeds going to The Sussex Beacon.

This year we are hosting Brighton Naked and Vulnerable from the 4th to the 27th of May and Brighton Shambhala from 11th May until 13th May.  Please see adjoining posts for details.

Brighton Shambhala is part of a global network of groups and centres offering a huge range of courses, from basic meditation to advanced retreats.  Many Shambhala centres offer contemplative arts programmes based on the teachings of Chogyam Trungpa, Rinpoche, the founder of Shambhala.  The vision of Shambhala begins with the understanding that all humans, at the very ground of their being, have basic goodness & wisdom.

Brighton Shambhala will be showing a series of films in the Gallery.

A one-day-only pop up exhibition at the Brighton Media Centre, showcasing a selection of up and coming local artists will include painting, sculpture, photography and film.

FIVE Printmakers

FIVE PRINTMAKERS is a collective show brought to you, in conjunction with the Brighton Media Centre Gallery, by five artists currently studying Fine Art Printmaking at the University of Brighton. Through a variety of techniques such as digital print, drawing, intaglio print, collage and stitch, each artist challenges you to consider what printmaking really is.

Artists include: Megan Hopkins, Liam
Bromage, Emma Denmark, River Head and Millie Popovic.

Open 20th March – 1st May. All work is available to buy.
